a regimen I should use while wig is off. I'm trying to grow my hair out and protect my growth. helpful answers please.I was wondering how to wear short arican american hair under a wig? good hair regimen to promote hair growth?
many people when they wear wigs or weave they forget about the hair underneath. make sure you take care of what you have not to cause damage. wigs are a great way to give you hair a break from daily wear a tear we put on hair. if done correctly. you should wash your hair weekly. if you opt to braid it in corn rolls be sure to spray some oil in it daily to keep the you hair from getting over dried. wigs tend to steal the oil from our hair.every two weeks get a deep conditioning treatment to repair damage. once every 6-8 weeks get a protein conditioning treatment. both are left on the head for 20 mins with a cap. sit under a dryer or let your heat from you head work it's magic. the heat opens your cuticle to your hair allow it to penetrate way down into your hair shaft. make sure to clip your ends to your hair every 6-8 weeks also. try not to perm your hair if you do this will cut down on breakage too.when you take off your wig place a satin or silk scarf on your hair to keep the oils from getting absorbed into your pillowcase. i am a big fan of oils and cremes for the hair(Shea butter, carrot oil and tea tree oil) they work the best. petroleum based hair products such as ';greases'; can clog the follicles of your hair stunting the growth. to remove product build up get a clarifying shampoo. hope this helps....I was wondering how to wear short arican american hair under a wig? good hair regimen to promote hair growth?
Some of the women in my family who are in your situation braid their hair up if they are planning on wearing a wig for a while. They braid it, put a wig cap on it and slap that wig right on lol. This protects your hair and for some reason, sometimes when hair is nappy, it grows better lol. Another good thing is to get tracks sewn in. By sewing them in rather than gluing them, your hair is protected from the heat of different styling irons. But overall, just wash your hair on the regular and keep it oiled so it won't dry out and it should come along fine. I'm an example of that lol. Hope this helps at least a little bit!
i'm about to do the same thing!! i've opted for two big french braids. pretty much in a pigtail style. My hair is a just a little past my shoulders though. do cornrows straight back. It's basic and they'll look nice if you ever want to go wigless. Wash and condition your hair once and week and make sure to ';grease'; it. But not with products that contain petroleum or mineral oil. Get Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair butter. It smells yummy and it works--- I'm serious. I tried sew in weave once and it broke all of my hair off. My hair was a little past my back, and I wanted it to grow to the middle of my back. i thought that weave would give my hair a break. Sew ins are supposed to be better for your hair but when I took the weave out my hair was chin length and thin as hell. I was utterly disappointed. Wigs are the way to go. Just don't get your hair braided too tight or that will rip out your hair too.
good luck!
